5 Months Today!!!

Our lil man turned 5 months old today!!! I can't believe how much he has grown and all the new things he is learning. For the first time in his crib last night he kept rolling on to his stomach. To my knowledge he wasn't able to turn back around which is why Steve and I kept running back upstairs to help him out. The only thing that kept creeping through my mind was SIDS and so even at one in the morning when I saw him on his belly I ran up and turned him around. Now obviously I can't continue to do that since it's hindering my sleep, so after discussing it with my sister I am going to let him do it. As she puts it, if he wants to turn on this belly then he wants to sleep on it.
His teeth still haven't made an appearance but at least the pain has subsided a bit, which is great since we can't give him anymore infants Tylenol given the recall. I just looked up our product number and our bottle is on the recall list. Now I wish I hadn't given it to him for an entire week, but he seems fine so I'm not all too worried.
Max is still in love with his feet and holds them every chance he gets. We have been practicing sitting up when I get home from work. He finds it so funny and giggles out loud the entire time. It truly is my favorite part of the day. We have also been practicing holding his own bottle which he has managed to do on several occasions. I still help him out, but he was able to hold it on his own for quite some time which is great.

Steve and I bought a jogging stroller on Craigslist and we love it. We went for our first stroll over the weekend and it was sooo nice. I can't wait to do more of them and start to run together. Max falls asleep in it and seems very comfortable which is also great.
Maxi came to the office to visit me last week and it was sooo nice to see him at work. Everyone thought he was so cute and there was a debate as to who he looked like. I think I won at the office haha Either way Steve and I are loving parenthood and couldn't be happier with our little family. Happy 5 Month munchkin!

Poor Max

Our poor little man has been suffering from severe teething. He has been drooling for about 1.5 months now, but only recently has it really gotten out of control. His bibs last about a half hour before they need to be switched and he now stuffs both hands into his mouth or anything else he can find to soothe his pain. The past two days have been rough since he hasn't been sleeping during the day as much and cries due to the pain. Yesterday he wouldn't stop crying and didn't' want to take his food from the new nanny and so off to the doctor we went. He got a clean bill of health and we were told his first two bottom teeth are about to make an appearance. I can actually see them trying to pierce through, and I can only imagine how painful it must be for the little guy. I remember our dogs teething when they were puppies and that was difficult to handle, I think this is worse because we can't really do anything for him. We did give him some baby Tylenol yesterday which helped. He passed out at 6.30pm and slept for 12 hours straight. He was EXHAUSTED.



On a more positive note, he has found his feet. It was the cutest thing watching him study his feet and legs, and it made it almost impossible to change his diaper since he kept sticking them in the air and kicking my chest. Today is the first day our Nanny is alone with him. Steve went to the office and called me five minutes after leaving the house telling me he is already having a hard time leaving Max...join the club daddy-now you know how I feel.

Max's first day with his Nanny

Today was Max's first day with his new nanny Maria. We hired her last week and for the next few days we are doing a trial run which started today. She came with a glowing recommendation and I instantly felt she was a great fit. Her usual work week will be Monday to Friday but because I wanted to be home on her first day she started on a Sunday. I told her what was most important to me and what I expected of her and she informed me what she needed. We agreed that she would set the day time schedule for him in the next two weeks so she could get to know him more and see what he is like during the day. I told her I wanted him on a set napping schedule during the day in his crib and that she needs to work on that with him. She will also cook and clean when he is napping which is great for us. She played with him all day long while we had friends over and from what I observed things went great. I hope she will be happy here and that things go smoothly. Tomorrow Steve will stay home one last day to make sure things run smoothly here and to take her to our doctors office so she knows where to go if something ever happened. She is a nurse which is great and already informed us that Max's breathing seemed a bit abnormal to her when he sleeps and that we should just get it checked out to make sure it's nothing serious which we will do.

Yesterday was the first time I took Max alone into Manhattan. We drove in to help one of my best friends register for her baby girl and then we had lunch. Max slept in the car both ways and was such a good boy the entire time. Daddy stayed home and got some well deserved quiet time. Here is the soon to be father with Max and I:

4 Month Checkup

Max had his 4 month check up yesterday. He was 15.9 lbs and was 26 inches long. That puts him in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height. He got his shots and the doctor said he looked FANTASTIC! He has been sleeping through the night for about three weeks now (it got a bit dicey when he got sick but he is back on track). We finally cut out the 10pm feedings since he goes to bed at 7pm and sleeps through to 5:30am at which point Steve feeds him and he goes down again for another few hours. He is giggling all the time and loves to laugh which makes it sooo much fun to be around him. We are starting him on oatmeal this week, tonight being the first night. We mixed it in with formula and fed it to him by spoon which was a lot more difficult then I had expected. It ended up being a huge mess, but it was so cute to watch him eat it. Every time we would remove the spoon he would scream, we eventually quit and fed him the bottle. Tonight we will try it again.

He is still not rolling around as much as I'd like him to, but he did roll for me when we were in Miami and he seemed to do it rather easily. More and more people are now telling me he looks like a split between mom and dad which of course makes me happy and drives Steve mad haha Maxi still loves his bath time and it has become a bit more difficult bathing him since he LOVES to kick and splash around like a maniac. He does it with such gusto, I always worry he is going to hurt himself.
We got the cutest compliment on our way home from Miami. Some fellow passengers said he was such a gorgeous baby, and not all babies are cute but he was super delicious. That is always nice to hear and of course being his mommy I have to agree, he is superrrrr delicious and a very well behaved baby :)I am counting the seconds for the weekend to get here so I can spend every minute I have with him. xoxo

The most precious moments were just relaxing in the room and getting to spend some real quality time with my son and husband. Max loves to laugh now and I could spend every waking moment playing with him, he is just too cute. Here we are rolling around and relaxing in the room:

Down the Aisle. My little sister got married over the weekend in Miami, it was a joyous occasion and she looked breathtaking. It was so nice to see family together in one place celebrating our little sisters hand in marriage. The ceremony took place on the rooftop of the Raleigh and the weather was perfect.





Max spent two of the three nights we were there with Steve's mom which was great for us. He was great on the flight there and slept most of the way unlike our return flight where he was up the entire time. We took a late flight and he didn't want to sleep, instead he talked and laughed and wanted to watch all the action. Steve had to walk him down the aisle so he would stop being fussy.
In Miami Maxi finally got to hangout with his two cousins from California which was too cute. We swam and played by the pool which was so much fun.








We spent the days at the pool with the kids and the evenings celebrating Olivia and Brads wedding. It was the perfect weekend. Here are some pictures from the wedding:
