Open House

So the time has come for us to put our beloved Manhattan apartment up for sale. We have lived here for almost 4 years and have shared so many fond memories in this place. Now with a baby on the way and our two dogs it's time to put it up for sale and get something bigger. This weekend we are having our first open house...lets hope it goes well!

Here are some pictures of our home:

Names

OR

Everyone is asking me what the names are that we have chosen...So here they are:

Girl: Sofia Deborah V.

Boy: Maximiliano Sergio V.(Max for short)

The middle names are my mother and his brother who both sadly passed away. So there you go...now if only we knew the sex :)~

I can say this...based on the two baby dreams I have had thus far...they both have been of a boy. A very cute little boy. However, the chinese gender chart which i backtested ( i know, such a dork haha) was right 11 out of 13 times. And that says i'm having a girl, and so does the spoon/fork test someone did on me- twice. So we shall see...the guessing has been fun though!

NT SCAN

Wohoooooooooooo! It only took us going there twice in one week for the baby to finally be big enough for them to do the test. The baby was measuring ahead of schedule at 12 weeks and 5 days. It took two doctors and a lot of time for the lil munchkin to finally get in the correct position for them to take a measurement of its neck. I didn't mind though, it allowed me to watch our baby play and pick its nose (yes it had its hand by its nose most of the time). The entire time I was watching him/her play I kept trying to get a glimpse between its legs to see if i could figure out the sex...I'm still perplexed. When I saw the first ultrasound at eight weeks I immediately thought it was a girl...today, I'm not so sure. I thought I did see something dangling between the legs, then again what do i know haha Only four more weeks until I can hopefully find out!

Luckily on our drive home the doctor called us with the results (since my blood was taken last week the results were available sooner). He told me that for a person of my age (29) the chance of something being wrong is 1 in 691....after my test and blood results the chances were 1 in 5072....now that made me feel much better! He said those were great results and so my hubby gave in and took me to my favorite sushi restaurant. No worries, i didn't have any raw fish but I did enjoy a romantic dinner with my lovely man. Now I can sit back and relax...life is good.

Down Syndrome for my age would be 1-691 my results were 1-5072

Trisomy 13 & 18 for my age would be 1-1247 my results were 1-10,000

A measurement of the Nuchal Translucency under 3mm is good our baby was 1.4mm

Siblings

As it turns out my older sis and I are pregnant at the same time. This will be her second and our first....the funny thing is we have done some things differently:

1. They waited to tell friends and certain family members (including myself) about her pregnancy until she was 3 months. We blurted it out to family a few days after we found out.

2. They are waiting to find out the sex....I'm finding out as soon as possible (hubby is waiting which should be interesting)

3. They didn't announce their names until the baby was born...we don't care and have already told people.

Even though we are approaching pregnancy in different ways, the experience and support of having a sibling or close friend to go through this with has been amazing. It has brought us closer and helped me be able to ask all sorts of silly questions...now if only all three of us sisters could get our timing right for the next pregnancy...wouldn't that be fun :)

Update

Since I'm starting this blog at 12 weeks and 2 days....I'm going to catch you up on the past 12 weeks...Steve (husband) and I found out I was pregnant March 29th...it was planned. We started trying in February...so we were lucky it didn't take long. For anyone trying to get pregnant, we highly recommend using clearblue fertility sticks....it worked like a charm.

We had our first doctor's visit at 8 weeks...it was such an amazing experience to see our baby for the first time and to hear its heartbeat. Steve really wanted twins and kept asking the doctor where the second fetus was haha She kept having to tell him there was only one baby inside :)

Here is a picture of our first ultra sound:

The following week I happened to be at the office when I went to the ladies room and noticed I was bleeding. Now that was a scare! I immediately called the doctor who sent me to the hospital...we had another ultrasound at 9.5 weeks. The baby looked healthy and the heartbeat measured a strong 177 bpm....Ill never forget Steve's face as he looked at the u/s machine- he looked as if he were about to cry.

I did have to go to the doctor the following morning and get a shot in the butt since I'm 0 negative. Luckily the bleeding has stopped and not returned knock on wood!

Our next doctor's appointment was at 11 weeks and 2 days...our doctor is great. We had our NT scan scheduled for the same day, so she asked if we wanted to have an u/s with her as well...well of course we did! It's always a bit nerve wracking not knowing if the baby is okay, so it's very reassuring to see it and hear a heartbeat. Here are the pictures at 11 weeks and 2 days:

Funny how one looks like an alien (our lil peanut is covering its ears with its hands) and how one looks like a baby's profile from the side....
So we had the NT scan that day, they were able to take the blood, however the baby was measuring too small for the test, so we have to go back today. It's a pain, but so worth it since we get to see our munchkin again! Luckily I have had a rather easy pregnancy...no morning sickness at all. I have been very tired and have awful food aversions...but as far as pregnancy symptoms go...I've been lucky! So now that you've been brought up to speed....I'll start posting updates Weekly!
