Wohoooooooooooo! It only took us going there twice in one week for the baby to finally be big enough for them to do the test. The baby was measuring ahead of schedule at 12 weeks and 5 days. It took two doctors and a lot of time for the lil munchkin to finally get in the correct position for them to take a measurement of its neck. I didn't mind though, it allowed me to watch our baby play and pick its nose (yes it had its hand by its nose most of the time). The entire time I was watching him/her play I kept trying to get a glimpse between its legs to see if i could figure out the sex...I'm still perplexed. When I saw the first ultrasound at eight weeks I immediately thought it was a girl...today, I'm not so sure. I thought I did see something dangling between the legs, then again what do i know haha Only four more weeks until I can hopefully find out!
Luckily on our drive home the doctor called us with the results (since my blood was taken last week the results were available sooner). He told me that for a person of my age (29) the chance of something being wrong is 1 in 691....after my test and blood results the chances were 1 in 5072....now that made me feel much better! He said those were great results and so my hubby gave in and took me to my favorite sushi restaurant. No worries, i didn't have any raw fish but I did enjoy a romantic dinner with my lovely man. Now I can sit back and relax...life is good.
Down Syndrome for my age would be 1-691 my results were 1-5072
Trisomy 13 & 18 for my age would be 1-1247 my results were 1-10,000
A measurement of the Nuchal Translucency under 3mm is good our baby was 1.4mm
