Yes, the simple act of putting something into my mouth is now not so simple anymore. Steve and I met with my nutritionist two days ago to go over what my numbers should be, how often I have to test (4 times a day) and what I can and cannot eat. We then went out and purchased a glucose monitoring system, which are expensive. You need to buy the little lancets, the testing strips, the machine, and alcohol swabs.
I hate pricking my finger, it hurts a bit, but not too bad. What's worse is the inconvenience of having to do it exactly two hours after every meal and first thing when I wake up. On top of planning my meals down to science it's just a big fat pain in the you know what. My first two days of testing were great, even on the low side, then last night I had the same dinner I had the previous night, and I blew through my numbers. I can't go over 120 two hours after a meal, and last nights dinner was 184. My poor hubby got all worked up, so tonight I'm heading to the gym. Hopefully that will do the trick since the night before I walked for 45 minutes and my numbers were low.
Steve and I have so much going on at the moment, I will let everyone know once I know it's a done deal. All good news...great news actually but I'm afraid to jinx it. I'll be heartbroken if it doesn't work out.
Keep your chin up about the GD. I'm sure you'll just be getting used to it and getting the hang of it when it's all over. That'd be my luck anyway.
ReplyDeletehaha thanks! And yeah you're probably right! I just hope it goes away after and I can go back to my normal routine!
ReplyDeleteI hope things keep going well for you in regards to the GD. And good luck with whatever the secret is, hopefully that works out for you two. :)
