Maine 2014

We were lucky enough to go back to Maine with the Whelans this year. August in Maine is breathtaking, and Big Diamond Island with all its upgrades was just what we needed.
The weather held up beautifully until our last day, the pool was warmer and the playground had been updated.
We brought Maharlika with us again, and hired two young girls from the Island to help us out.
We played tennis daily, I ran, we swam and ate a lot. It was great to shut off all communication to the outside world and just enjoy our little family with good friends. Max even tried to swim without his floaties and actually did quite well. Hopefully next year he will learn to swim without them. The boys loved playing with the Jenga blocks we bought and also drove the golf cart which they enjoyed. We got ice cream after dinner from the local store and Dylan and Jake loved sharing. Poor Max had gotten Croup two nights earlier, and had really bad diarrhea our entire trip. The boys slept in a room together across the hall from Steve and I.
The boys went out with Timmy and Steve after dinner to check out the Island. The fathers told them all about the spookie houses and ghosts that live there. The kids had a blast exploring the Island. I got to hangout a lot with Grace, who is the sweetest little girl, and it definitely made me want to have a daughter, which of course Steve wants no part of :) We went to dinner two nights, one of which Steve had the hiccups and decided to do a handstand in the middle of the restaurant and almost break his neck. That was also the night my lovely brother decided to nominate me for the ice bucket challenge. We checked that off our list the moment we got back to the house. Of course Steve pulled the trigger too soon and I was caught off guard. We had our annual lobster night which was great. We got 10 lobsters and devoured them so fast we needed to make some burgers as well.
On our drive home we decided to stop at the outlets and buy the kids a new wardrobe since they have outgrown most of their clothes. The kids had ice cream there and once we got back in the car and were 20 minutes from home poor Jake had to vomit all over. The smell was terrible, but luckily it was just once. As nice as the trip was, it was great to be home again.
