That was the question we were asking ourselves last weekend when Max started to get shiners under his eyes and seemed to have breathing problems. We thought it might be the dogs which was too upsetting to even comprehend. We love our dogs and the thought that we might have to find them a new home was unbearable. Max loves the dogs and the older he gets the more he adores them.
It all started when I got home Sunday and he was rubbing his face incessantly. He had two shiners below his eyes and we noticed he was breathing loudly through his mouth. That night I had to get up twice to soothe him because he woke up crying and rubbing his eyes and the following morning he had a red blotchy face. Poor little man was not happy. So daddy took him to the doctor and we were told we didn't have to worry. His mucus membranes showed no signs of allergies, instead we were told that Maxi was in a lot of pain from teething. His two bottom teeth seem to want to come out soon and so he is drooling more than usual and in pain. Of course it was a relief that the dogs weren't causing all this, but our poor boy is still very uncomfortable. With all the rubbing he is doing he has managed to scratch his entire face and now looks like he got into a fight with a cat :) I gave him some Acetaminophen last night and he managed to sleep comfortably which was great. I'm really looking forward to his teeth coming in, I have a feeling it will be this month.
